Dayasiri
Jayasekera joins the SLFP
Former
UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera quit his parliamentary post to join the SLFP and
contest for the North Western Provincial elections for the UPFA.
Dayasiri
was born on 12 June 1969. He studied at Hettipola Junior School,
Harischandra College and Mayurapada Central College.
After
obtaining the degree in Law, he was appointed to the Post of coordinating
secretary to the Minister of Judiciary. In
1997 he got the highest number of preferences in Paduvasnuwara electorate. He
was not appointed as the Chairman though he deserved it. In 1999 he was
appointed as the secretary of the Youth Association of Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
During this period he earned reputation by organizing the 54th party
conference.
Then
he became the coordinating Secretary of Prof G.L.Peiris (Minister of Investment
Promotion) and he gathered plenty of political experience. Throughout the
period he demonstrated his ability of leadership and organizing. He was also
the Chairman of Sri Lanka Mineral Sand Corporation.
In
2004, again he became organizer of Katugampola electorate. In that year, he
could win the general election getting 52,457 preferences. In 2005, he became the organizer of
Paduvasnuwara. He is extremely happy to
remark that he could work hand in hand as a friend in need with area residents
of Paduwasnuwara.
On
24th July 2013, he left UNP criticizing the dictatorship like management of the
leader, resigned from the party and dropped his seat in the parliament and
joined the ruling Freedom Alliance Party.
Jayasekara
is married to Jayawanthi Jayasekara and they have two children Kaveen
Jayasekara and Gihansi Jayasekara.
